July 28th, 2008Kawasaki Vulcan 2000

In the cruiser category bigger is definitely better, and the super-macho new Vulcan 2000 is the largest displacement V-Twin in the world. This high-powered flagship machine is unlike anything in the cruiser category and completely redefines Kawasaki’s brand DNA in this important market. Complementing the engine’s massive size and impressive power output is an attractive style that mixes modern and traditional design elements in a streamlined, highly integrated package. Centrepiece of the Vulcan 2000’s remarkable styling is the streamlined headlight nacelle enclosing a “gatling” projector-beam headlamp.

Engine displacement is an incredible 2,053 cc, making the Vulcan 2000 the largest displacement production V-Twin in history. Not only does this muscular power plant produce massive amounts of torque and horsepower, it is also one of the best-looking VTwin engines in the world, with the huge gracefully tapered cylinders attractively accentuated by the long pushrod tubes and curvaceous engine covers.

The “stretched” low-and-long chas9:15 PMsis is just as impressive. As the top model in Kawasaki’s cruiser line-up, every detail expresses the high quality, superb comfort and feeling of trustworthiness customers expect from a flagship machine.

Japanese auto giant, Yamaha will launch two bike models, R15 and FZ in the country before Diwali, Executive vice-president Takahiro Maeda said today.

Yamaha, which did not have any major success in the Indian market, had earlier launched two sport bikes 1,680 cc engine powered MT01 and 998 cc YZF R1 last December.

Giving details about the response, Mr Maeda said about 50 bikes of the two models have already been sold throughout India.

“The maximum sale is done in Delhi and Bangalore,” Mr Maeda revealed. The company operates in the domestic market through a wholly-owned subsidiary Yamaha Motor.

It’s been two years since Yamaha updated the YZF-R6 with the most radical makeover in the bike’s nine-year history. The changes back in 2006 were in some ways a logical evolution of the R6 model, with the already-light chassis even lighter and the already-screaming motor even, uh . . . screamier. Other updates were unexpected, such as new conservative geometry numbers and very different styling. One thing that didn’t change was the bike’s popularity: It continued to be a hit with street riders, track-day junkies and club racers alike. Even some controversy over the ‘06 model’s optimistic tachometer didn’t seem to put a dent in the bike’s success.

Ninja 250 among the bikes to be retailed Bajaj and Kawasaki today announced an agreement to bring in Kawasaki big bikes into India. This is in continuation of their strong partnership from the mid 80’s when the first technical collaboration for motorcycle development was signed. This technical collaboration which continued since then went a step further in 2004 when Kawasaki commenced distributing Bajaj bikes in the Philippines.

Now the partners bring Kawasaki big bikes to India. Surrounded by the bikes being considered for launch is the recently launched Ninja 250. This product designed by Kawasaki for the United States, Europe and Japan is powered by an eight-valve DOHC liquid cooled 250 cc fuel injection engine developing 30 PS at 10,500 rpm. Combined with the 6-speed transmission the Ninja 250 is a matchless performer. In addition to the Ninja 250, other big Kawasaki bikes that are being considered for the domestic market were on display at the Bajaj Presentation in Hall no 3 at the Auto-Expo inside N. Delhi. These include the Sports Roadster the ER-6n, Super Sports bikes the Ninja ZX-6R and the Z1000, and the Vulcan Cruiser.

The Kawasaki bikes would be retailed through the chain of hi-end Bajaj Probiking showrooms. The company had kick-started the Probiking initiative in 2005 with the launch of the Pune showroom. Today ten Probiking showrooms are operational with presence in all major markets with ten more to go on-stream by end of economic 2008. intended for professional bikers the showrooms house state-of the art interactive terminals and offer prospective “Probikers” a chance to test-ride the bikes on specially designed Indoor Dynamometers. Kawasaki, Japan will also give the necessary service training and part back-up to ensure that the hi-performance bikes are in peak condition and fully live up to the expectations of the Probikers.

, President of the Kawasaki Consumer Products and Machinery Company comments, “India is a very important market for KHI and Bajaj Auto is a strong partner. The Indian market is in the cusp of progressing to big bikes and Kawasaki is highly regarded in this section. Soon the “flying K” and the “Kawasaki Green” will scorch the Indian roads.”

Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, and Bajaj Auto said, “Both Kawasaki and Bajaj have synergized their strengths to widen the selection in own markets. The family consumer can now experience the power of big biking while the Kawasaki customers in the Philippines are previously experiencing the range of Bajaj products for the past few years. We are in debate to extend the Philippine commerce model to other countries as well.”
